It’s actually surprising how long it has taken someone to come out with this in the US. Samsung has announced plans to release the NC215S solar powered laptop in July.
The netbook will retail for $399. You can power the netbook for one hour for every two hours that you keep it in the sun. That’s not too bad. The netbook has a 10.1 inch display with an effective resolution of 1024 x 600. It comes with 1GB of ram and a 250 GB hard drive. The powerhouse is a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor. The battery, when fully charged, can last 14 hours. We’ll see what kind of demand this can garner.
